From GoodReads:
New York Times bestselling and Edgar Award winning author Lisa Scottoline is loved by millions of readers for her suspenseful novels about family and justice. Scottoline delivers once again with Keep Quiet, an emotionally gripping and complex story about one mans split-second decision to protect his son - and the devastating consequences that follow.
Jake Buckmans relationship with his sixteen-year-old son Ryan is not an easy one, so at the urging of his loving wife, Pam, Jake goes alone to pick up Ryan at their suburban movie theater. On the way home, Ryan asks to drive on a deserted road, and Jake sees it as a chance to make a connection. However, what starts as a father-son bonding opportunity instantly turns into a nightmare. Tragedy strikes, and with Ryan's entire future hanging in the balance, Jake is forced to make a split-second decision that plunges them both into a world of guilt and lies. Without ever meaning to, Jake and Ryan find themselves living under the crushing weight of their secret, which threatens to tear their family to shreds and ruin them all.
Powerful and dramatic, Keep Quiet will have readers and book clubs debating what it means to be a parent and how far you can, and should, go to protect those you love.

My Review:
Yes, Yes, Yes! This book gets a big yes! I usually save the
5 star rating for my favorite, most favorite books, but this was great. I found
this book in a book group on Goodreads, and it was more than I expected. I ran
out in the snow to get it from the library, I was ready to read it for some
reason.
I consider this to be a cozy mystery not a psycho thriller
but I was hooked from the start. I couldn't put it down. The story line is real close to home. Things like this happen all the time. You know that saying,
"Bad things happen to good people.”
Like what would I do if it happened to
me?
How would we survive?
What about my child?
It’s a parent’s intuition to
protect and serve their child. However, how do we know what is right from wrong
in this picture. (I think I will save that for another discussion)
Back to the book.
I was hooked. It started off a bit slow, I
was skeptical to read it but boom right on the 4th or 5th page the action took
over. Not so much as the movie "Taken" action. But the emotional
roller coaster of which way to turn right to be right or wrong to be right. AH! The Decisions.
I loved the characters; they were so real and raw. I thought
I was reading a true story for a moment. Pam, she is my favorite, I was
expecting her to be some stuck up arrogant person, but she was far from it. She
was ride or die for her family, I loved it!
And Ryan, poor Ryan he responded
just the way he was supposed to, and even that was a surprise.
I truly liked this story.
Right when I was getting to the good part about Dr. Dave, my
grandmother called me from the other room... I almost wanted to ignore her, the
book was that good. (And yes, I paused to take care of her and ran back to my
book)
But to find out that about Dr. Dave, I was super surprised.
He fit the regular description of a therapist, not like the T.V. make them out
to be, but a regular therapist. And then.... ok, wait. You just have to read
it!
Ok, I'm done... Happy Reading
